Scott McCray - Magician in Denver

The Madman Behind the Magic

Magician Denver It was at Zeezo's Magic Castle, a Denver area magic shop, that Scott McCray first became enthralled by the world of magic at the age of seven. After six long years of practice, professional instruction and a fair share of bloopers and blunders, Scott gave his first professional magic performance at only 13. By the end of the show he was hooked, and soon after began to take his studies of the magical arts more seriously. He soon became the understudy of renowned speaker, humorist and accomplished magician, Brad Montgomery. Under his tutelage, Scott refined his magical talents and in 1990 took first place in the 1990 Magic Days Convention Junior Magician competition.

In high school, Scott's success at the Magic Days competition helped him land a job at Zeezo's Magic Castle, the very shop where his love affair with magic began. The job at Zeezo's allowed him to rub elbows with some of the best magicians in Colorado, encouraging him to continue his magical studies. Scott continued to perfect his craft and earned a little money on the side by performing at parties and events.

At the age of 18, Scott competed in an International talent competition in Toronto, Canada, taking home the second place trophy. Scott made his first serious break into the world of professional entertainment at the age of 20 for Harrah's Entertainment in Blackhawk, Colorado. Around the same time, Scott developed and co-starred in the critically-acclaimed magic and illusion show, Illusionation.

It was after a one-on-one consultation with the world famous Lance Burton in Las Vegas, Nevada that Scott decided to launch his solo career in the Denver area. While studying for a theatrical-based degree in Speech Communications, Scott applied the techniques he was learning to perfect his act. His dedication to his craft soon paid off, opening the doors to scores of bookings in the corporate arena, at vacation properties, and at festivals around the western United States. In 2003 he also served at the President of the Mile High Magicians Society, a Denver-based association of magical enthusiasts dedicated to enjoying, appreciating and advancing the art of magic.

For the past 12 years Scott has been the premier performer at the famous Lane Guest Ranch, just outside of Estes Park, Colorado. He played the wandering wizard at the annual Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park, Colorado for 3 years, performing close-up magic to the delight of children and adults. He has performed on numerous occasions at the annual Taste of Colorado, providing both roving entertainment as well as performing on the Family Show Stage sponsored by Mix 100. Scott has also been entertaining at the Tumbleweed Festival in Garden City, Kansas for more than a decade. Most recently he served as entertainer and emcee at the Thornton Harvest Festival. He continues to perform frequently all around Colorado and the West. He resides in Lakewood, Colorado with his wife and their 3 beautiful children.
